About Us

Probiotic labels are full of promises — “10 billion CFU,” “clinically studied strains,” “supports gut health.” But what is actually in the bottle rarely matches what is on the label. At Best Canine Probiotics Guide, we find out by testing the products ourselves.

We are an independent testing and review publication devoted to one question: which canine probiotics actually deliver what they claim? Rather than relying on manufacturer spec sheets, we put competing products head to head. We verify viable colony counts, confirm strain identity, check for contaminants, and evaluate formulation choices like delivery format, stability, and palatability. Then we score the results transparently, so you can compare products on data instead of marketing.

Our mission is to bring laboratory rigor to a category that too often runs on adjectives. Dog owners deserve to know whether the probiotic they are paying for contains live, correctly identified organisms at the stated potency — and whether it holds up through its shelf life. That is the standard we hold every product to, and we publish our methodology so our results can be scrutinized and reproduced.

Our Team

Dr. Michelle Torres, PhD — Head of Laboratory Science. A microbiologist by training, Dr. Torres designs our testing protocols, oversees strain verification and viable-count analysis, and interprets the results that drive our rankings.

Laboratory Technicians — Our bench team carries out sample preparation, plating, incubation, and colony counting under Dr. Torres’s supervision, following standardized procedures to keep results consistent across every product we test.

Why Trust Us

Independence is the foundation of everything we publish:

  • We test, we don’t reprint. Our rankings rest on our own laboratory measurements, not on claims supplied by brands.
  • Transparent methodology. We document how we sample, culture, identify, and count organisms so our process can be evaluated and repeated.
  • Head-to-head fairness. Products are assessed against the same protocol and the same scoring rubric, so comparisons are apples to apples.
  • No sponsored rankings. Placement in our guides is never for sale, and any material relationship is disclosed up front.

Testing dates, lot numbers, and full results are noted in each review. Because formulations and manufacturing can change, we re-test and update our guides on a regular cycle.
